investigated by immunoblot with serum from individuals sensitized to anisakis or shrimp. IgE binding patterns in the immunoblots were used for the identification of major Anisakis allergens, which were analysed by mass spectrometry-based proteomics in ESI-Orbitrap, after separation on SDS-gel. Results: Four new allergen candidates were identified. The first identified allergen was enolase, which is related to the cockroach allergen enolase. The other allergens were Heat Shock Protein-70 (HSP 70), tubulin, and glutathion-S-transferase, which are also present as allergens in house dust mite. Conclusions: Here we describe the identification of 4 novel IgE binding allergens in anisakis. The allergens might explain IgE cross-reactivity between anisakis and house dust mite or cockroach.
